What we heard
Residents consistently pointed to the location near the University of Calgary and Foothills Medical Centre as both a strength and a challenge. It offers convenience for many who live and work nearby, but it also creates spillover impacts.
“We are lucky to live close to the university and the hospital, but it causes parking to spill into our streets.”

Parking pressure was described as one of the top frustrations, with residents also raising concerns about traffic safety along 16th Avenue.

Other issues included noise from major traffic corridors, calls for safer pedestrian crossings, and a desire to balance growth while keeping University Heights’ quiet feel intact.
Green space and the community’s tree canopy were also raised as priorities, with residents calling for more shaded sidewalks, better maintenance of local parks, and stronger protections for residential character.
Improved transit service was another recurring theme. Many noted that stronger connections would help ease congestion and better link the neighbourhood to the rest of Calgary.
