We’ve been knocking on doors and collecting survey feedback for over six months in Hounsfield Heights-Briar Hill and across Ward 7, and we learned a lot about residents’ priorities.
What we heard
Residents praise the neighbourhood’s quiet, scenic streets and incredible views as defining features that make it special.

Safety and mobility are recurring concerns. People pointed to challenges crossing 16th Avenue and Crowchild, as well as the need for better lighting in public spaces.
Winter brings its own frustrations, especially with snow removal. On steep sidewalks and hills, residents stressed the need for more consistent clearing.

Protecting the character of Hounsfield Heights–Briar Hill is also top of mind. Mature trees and older homes are deeply valued, and residents want them preserved through redevelopment.

Parking pressures from nearby institutions and disruptions from construction projects also came up, along with requests for more maintenance of sidewalks and pathways.
Residents want improved pedestrian and cycling connections, more community programming, and stronger spaces to gather together.

The Summit: Marian & Jim Sinneave Centre for Youth Resilience is a new and vital community resource, offering support and programming for young people.

A staircase linking hilltop homes to the lower street provides a hidden tree-lined path for walkers.
