We’ve been knocking on doors and collecting survey feedback for over six months in Eau Claire and across Ward 7, and we learned a lot about residents’ priorities.

What we heard

Residents highlight Prince’s Island Park as one of the best features of the neighbourhood. It is cherished as a place for recreation, relaxation, and community life.

“Prince’s Island Park is one of the best things about living here.”

Construction has been a significant source of disruption. From large projects to delays, residents shared frustration about how long building timelines affect daily life.

“Construction has been tough on residents.”

Safety and accessibility are also top concerns. People pointed to the need for more lighting at night, cleaner and better-maintained sidewalks, and safer pedestrian connections to downtown.

“Lighting and safety improvements would help a lot.”

Residents want more trees, shaded areas, and public seating that make Eau Claire more welcoming for families and neighbours. Calls for additional gathering spaces reflect the desire to strengthen community life.

There is also interest in stronger connections to the downtown core and transit, including anticipation for the Green Line project.

“When is the Green Line going to be built here? It’s important.”

Noise from helicopter flyovers and the lack of small-scale local businesses were also raised, with residents calling for more amenities that feel rooted in the community.

Prince’s Island Park

The crown jewel of the neighbourhood, this park is loved for its trails, festivals, river views, and family-friendly spaces.

Bow River Pathways

Access to walking and cycling paths that connect Eau Claire to the riverfront and beyond.

Eau Claire Plaza

A central open space used for events and public life. A Cooling fog mist water feature and small beach was added in 2025.
