Your neighbourhood listening tour report
banff trail
We’ve been knocking on doors and collecting survey feedback for over six months in Banff Trail and across Ward 7, and we learned a lot about residents’ priorities.
What we heard
Residents of Banff Trail consistently highlight how much they value the community’s proximity to services, transit, and the University of Calgary.
“The neighbourhood is changing… I hope it still feels like Banff Trail in ten years.”
— Banff Tail Resident
Residents are mindful of change. Many recognize redevelopment brings growth, but also worry about maintaining the neighbourhood’s identity. Others have raised concerns about aging infrastructure.
“Our playgrounds are getting old and need to be renewed.”
— Banff Tail Resident
Traffic and safety are recurring themes in community conversations. Families in particular are worried about moving through busy intersections. Traffic calming measures are seen as priorities for a growing population.
“Crossing major roads like 19th St and 24th Ave with kids feels stressful.”
— Banff Tail Resident
Residents consistently emphasize the importance of preserving Banff Trail’s green feel. There is a shared sentiment that mature trees and leafy streets are central to the neighbourhood’s charm.
“Every new build should come with trees to keep our streets green.”
— Banff Tail Resident
Calls for more small-scale retail and community programming also point to a desire for Banff Trail to remain not only convenient, but connected and vibrant.
