Your neighbourhood listening tour report

parkdale

We’ve been knocking on doors and collecting survey feedback for over six months in Parkdale and across Ward 7, and we learned a lot about residents’ priorities.

What we heard

Parkdale’s riverside location as its defining strength. The Bow River pathways and green spaces are what keep people rooted in the community.

“The river is why so many of us stay in Parkdale.”

— Parkdale Resident

Parking pressures from Foothills Hospital are a daily frustration. Many residents described how spillover traffic affects their streets and quality of life.

“Parking because of the hospital nearby creates daily challenges.”

— Parkdale Resident

Concerns about redevelopment also came up. While change is inevitable, residents worry about the impact on Parkdale’s character.

“The neighbourhood is changing, but I’m not sure if it’s for the better.”

— Parkdale Resident

People want better lighting and safer pedestrian crossings, especially along the pathway at night.

Noise from traffic and hospital activity also adds to the stress.

Protecting Parkdale’s leafy character is deeply important. Mature trees and green spaces are seen as essential to the neighbourhood’s identity.

“Protecting our big old trees is important.”

— Parkdale Resident

Residents called for better flood resilience, continued investment in parks, and more community gathering places.

Small local cafés in particular were seen as a way to add vibrancy.

“A few more neighbourhood cafés would be a great addition.”
