Your neighbourhood listening tour report
mount pleasant
We’ve been knocking on doors and collecting survey feedback for over six months in Mount Pleasant and across Ward 7, and we learned a lot about residents’ priorities.
What we heard
The river and natural areas are at the heart of community life. Residents describe them as what makes Montgomery feel unique, offering both recreation and a small-town atmosphere within the city.
“I love the sense of community here.””
— Mount Pleasant Resident
Infill development is a recurring concern. While residents recognize the need for new housing, many worry about how the pace of construction and upkeep of sites affect neighbourhood character and safety.
“Construction and infill projects can feel overwhelming.”
— Mount Pleasant Resident
Infrastructure and upkeep also came up often. Sidewalks need more consistent attention.
“Sidewalks in our old neighbourhood need more attention, especially in winter.”
— Mount Pleasant Resident
Families are especially concerned about safety on major roads. Many want stronger traffic calming near schools and parks.
“We have a lot of major roads that cut through the neighbourhood that I won’t let my kids cross alone.”
— Mount Pleasant Resident
Residents want to see more trees and green space as the community grows, along with better lighting on residential streets and cleaner public spaces.
“We can always use more trees and green space.”
— Mount Pleasant Resident
There were also calls for more amenities, including dog parks, community gathering spaces, and local cafés or shops within walking distance.
